BSCS

Georgia Tech’s Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) degree equips students for successful careers in computing. It equips students with both current and practical computing knowledge as well as industry skills. Graduates will have acquired analytical capabilities, software development fundamentals, problem-solving techniques and the ability to recognize professional responsibilities with regards to legal and ethical principles in practice computing environments.

Courses

The undergraduate programs within the College of Computing provide students with a flexible curriculum tailored to help them meet their career goals. Our courses are organized into Threads to give a broad overview of computer science and related areas as they prepare them for an increasingly connected world.

Each Threads program consists of core computer science and foundational programming courses as well as electives that give students an opportunity to personalize their education. An undergraduate degree program typically lasts four years with specific requirements varying depending on the student.

Electives Bachelor of Science in Computer Science majors must complete 15 credits of unrestricted electives at any university, with no prerequisite courses imposed, except mathematics courses under MATH 1310; substantially duplicating others offered for their degree such as CS 1010 or 1020; any introductory programming course; and APMA 1090. In addition, up to three repeats may count towards fulfilling their elective requirement if original grades don’t count toward their GPA in Computer Science.

Athletic teams at this school are known as the Yellow Jackets and compete at NCAA Division I level. An iconic symbol of this institution is Tech Tower with letters “TECH” on both sides; an annual tradition for students is to try to steal this letter – this has proven successful several times before!
